Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

change

About 3 years ago, I went shopping at WalMart. When it was time to check out, I chose the self-check out aisle. I had a wallet full of change. I don't like carrying that around. It makes my wallet hard to close and it makes my purse heavy. When my total came up, it was $8. 95. I carefully counted out and inserted the .95 and then fed a $10 bill into the slot.  I waited for my two one dollar bills to drop into the slot, when clang...out drops 8 quarters! I couldn't believe it! I was trying to get rid of change...now I had more than I started with! I did not want that change!

In my Christian life, I have learned that God often asks me to change. Many times, it is change that I don't want. I am happy (or at least, I think I am) with the status quo. But, because He is long-suffering and merciful He doesn't take no for an answer. So eventually, because I want to please Him and because I know He is always right and because He has "given us everything we need for living a godly life" 2 Pet. 1:3, I trust that He will enable me to obey. He has asked me to change several things this year:

-my diet
-the way I pray for some people
-the things I say "yes" to
-how I spend my time

And He was right! I am seeing and enjoying the benefits and blessings of these changes. I am grateful that He is a loving Father who always wants what is best for us. Sometimes that requires change!

  1. i don't like change either, the one thing i like to change is the house i live in, before i met bob 28 years ago i moved all the time, now we have been in this house 23 years. that is the only change i like, but can't have. a counselor once told me
"when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, you will change." i never forgot that. good luck with your changes.

  2. I really like how God has asked you to change and you have. I bet you laughed when you got eight quarters. That is so funny. My least favorite thing was when it would be the end of the month and I worked in a grocery store and at closing time people would pay for groceries in all pennies and nickles. It would take so long to count out when that would happen.

  3. The change story is funny although at the time you probably didn't appreciate it...
Amen to little changes God's asks of us and how those changes benefit ourselves and others...

  4. I think God laughs when we tell Him what OUR plans are - He says - oh yeah?

  5. Those are all good goals. Just take one thing at a time per day. Remember: goals are meant to be modified at times. have a great time!
