About Me

Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

"grand camp"!

On our way home from Fernandina, we stopped to pick up C.W.
He was going to spend the week with us...going to
Vcation Bible School at our church in the mornings and having
"Grand Camp" in the afternoons!
Monday, after lunch, we went to our Museum of Aviation
located on the Air Force Base on the edge of our city.
He has been there many times, but it is one of his favorite places.
I had not been there in years, so he enjoyed being my tour guide!

On Tues, we went to our used booksore where he picked out
two books and played with their train set. Then, it was off to
Monkey Joe's where he spent 4 hours playing on the inflatables!

After dinner, we put him to work shelling peas...
and he was good at it!!

Wed afternoon, we met Little E and Little C
and their mom and dad at Chuck E Cheese.

They had fun on the rides and playing the games.

The soccer game was his favorite and he was great at it!
It didn't take him long to figure put how to time it so he could
kick it around the "goalie" and get a goal!

Thurs, we played at home... on the swing set and making
ice cream treats with play dough.

Then we were off to the store to buy a new game!

Friday, we went bowling. We bowled three games..
his scored improved with each game!

After dinner, we went to a local park to play on the great
playground there.

Afterwards, a stop at Dairy Queen for a yummy cone
refreshed us!

Sat night, we finished off the week with fireworks...

And they were great!

It was a week to remember....
for us and, I hope, for him!! :-)

more from fernandina

There's a lot to catch up on!
We came home from Fernandina Sunday
to a busy week...but that's for another post!

Here are some more images from our beach trip...
sea oats and white sand dunes.

Board walk at the main beach access.

Sea gulls enjoying the view from the boardwalk.

This fellow was enjoying his dinner at the marina.

And this guy was standing just a few feet from some
tourists...see their drinks...but wasn't a bit afraid.

Historic Downtown...shops, restaurants, beautiful
buildings, moss draped trees, flowers and
cobblestones!

First time I have ever seen a pajama store! :-)

Episcopal Church

U.S. Post Office

A lovely bed and breakfast.

Last remaining original horse water trough...circa 1895.

The marina at the very end of Centre St...
the main street in the historic area.

It was an enjoyable 4 days...the weather was perfect.
the food was delicious and the pace was slow and easy...
just what we needed!

beaching it!

We made it to Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida
yesterday and the first order of business, after checking in
the hotel, was to find some good seafood!
And we did...at the "Crab Shack"

Delicious...savored every bite of those yummy shrimp!

Next up, a early evening walk on the beach...so pretty!

Today, we hit the beach early not knowing how crowded it would be.

Our umbrellas protected us from the sun.
After all, I work for a dermatologist...can't go
back to work sunburned! :-)

Lots of houses to rent on the beach... all different sizes
and styles.

The waves weren't big, but they were frequent...
lots of young people surfing and boogie boarding!

The beach is wide and long with white sand...

shells, and seagulls!

Looking forward to more good seafood tonight
and a walk through historic Fernandina!
Hey, I could get use to this!! :-)

this week...so far

Hubby showed up at my work place yesterday with these...

This morning, Little E offered to fill in for our receptionist!!

This afternoon, we had our first harvest of green beans.

Snapped 'em, washed 'em, cooked 'em!
Tomorrow, we'll be ready to eat 'em!!

Hope you are having a pleasant week...
thanks for all the sweet anniversary wishes!
We had a nice dinner at home...surf and turf...
and made a run to DQ for blizzards!
We have reservations for a little trip this weekend
to really celebrate...can't wait!!

forty-one years!

Forty-one years ago on June 16, 1973....
we stood at the altar of the church I grew up in
and said our vows and exchanged our rings in the
presence of family and friends.

God has blessed us with many happy times and has comforted
us in the not-so-happy times.

He has graced us with 3 beautiful children, 7 adorable grands,
and many loving and faithful friends.

He has provided work for our hands, opportunities to serve
and time to have fun!

It was impossible to imagine at age 19 what life with this man
would be like, but looking back I can say... it has been good.
Not perfect...there have been some bumps in the road...
disappointments, disagreements, difficulties.
But, commitment means getting over the bumps and finding the
smooth road again.... and that's what we've done.

We have been happy in every stage of our lives...
newlyweds, child-rearing days, and now the "grand" years!
We don't know what the Lord has in store for us in the years
ahead, but we do know that we will face it together and...
we look forward to the adventure!!
