Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

a fish tale

When I was growing up, a "fish fry" was a common event in our family. Our family enjoyed fishing and so did my dad's co-workers and the men at our church. It was a fun and easy way to feed lots of people and have fun, too! The usual side dishes were slaw, hushpuppies and french fries. When Hubby and I were dating, he told me his mom served grits with fried fish. I was sure he was
mistaken...no one eats grits with fish! Well, sometime later during a visit to see his parents, she proved him correct! I wasn't sure about it, but I (being the polite guest that I am! ha! ha!) tried it...and what do you know...I liked it! There's something about the flavors of the fish, ketchup, and the buttery grits that is pretty tasty. It became a standard in our home, too.

We have a basket of fish from Hubby's fishing trips in our freezer. So, guess what we had for dinner...
you guessed it...fish and grits! Hubby LOVES fish...catching them and eating them. So, he was a happy man tonight!

Reminds me how important it is to be open to new things. You never know what opportunities and blessings God has waiting for you....on the other side of that new adventure!

  1. I come from a long line of fishermen and women. When I was younger for many years I camped out every weekend that weather permitted with family and friends on the Illinois river in OK and fished. We had so much fun. We cooked our fish right there at the camp and usually took some home with us too. We mostly caught catfish that was our favorite. We have some great catfish here in Arkansas but I haven't been fishing in a whole lot of years. I have eaten a lot of grits and a lot of fish but never have I eaten them together. I just may have to try that if I ever get the chance. I am glad you got to enjoy a nice fish and grits dinner. Hugs

  2. For the longest time, I wouldn't have anything to do with grits, but after a few visits to the Low Country, I decided I ought to at least TRY them. Now I love them, even with fish! ;-)

  3. Well it looked yummy to me. It is like the fried chicken and waffles, I couldn't imagine it in my mind but once I ate it I loved it. Since I have had a hankering for grits next time we fix fish I might just try it. Your fish looks picture perfect.
