Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

a khaki, red, and green give-away!

Okay, here it is...the give-away from juliette.
Your own personal...

khaki, red, and green...

apron to make fried green tomatoes in!

Leave a comment by next Tuesday, Oct 18.
I'll announce the winner on the 19th!

Now, here's the recipe so you will be prepared when your apron arrives. :-)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 pound green tomatoes, sliced 1/3 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • salt

  • Place the flour, eggs, and cornmeal in 3 separate shallow bowls. Dip the tomatoes first in the flour, then in the eggs (letting any excess drip off), and finally in the cornmeal, pressing gently to help it adhere.

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working in batches, cook the tomatoes until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt before serving.

  1. If you could see all the green tomatoes threatening to freeze on the vine...

I love the apron and would proudly wear it while whipping up a batch of green goodness!

    Blessings, Debbie

  2. Ok - silly question...Juliette - is that in Georgia?? Not Alabama, right? and if you try to google that question - oh my, quite the heated discussion on where the Whistle Stop REALLY is!! Gotta love the internet:)

Your trip, there, looks like one that my Hubbie and I would really enjoy (although we have never seen the movie!) HA..

    Have a great weekend.

  3. Hi! I'm visiting from Kim's 'My Field of Dreams'. I've been looking for a good recipe for fried green tomatoes. I liked the book. I'd like to be entered in your giveaway. Have a super weekend!

  4. I have never had a fried green tomato. I have not seen the movie. I must be leading an underprivileged life! So go ahead and give the apron to someone who actually WILL make them!

But I was thinking about you and your quest to move...Have I missed news about listing your house, hunting for a new one, and making the transition? Praying right now for those details in your life.

  5. Hey there Miss Debbie, Thank you so much for saying I could enter but you know I don't want to be greedy since I won your last one. Though it would be fun. Next time maybe. :)
I love the recipe for the tomatoes.
You give a way looks fantastic.
    So thanks!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend with your family.
Show us what you cooked. :)

  6. Fun give-away! Now I'm wondering what fried green tomatoes would taste like...and thinking I might give the recipe a whirl.

  7. The next time I watch the movie, I'll make up a batch of these, thanks so much for posting the recipe! What a cute apron too, so sweet of you, if I win I just might send you a jar of sweet honey!! :)

  8. Thanks for the recipe! And for a chance to win the apron...the lucky person whose name is pulled from the hat will really have to make some fried green tomatoes. Maybe this is my chance to finally taste this Southern dish!

  9. okay, I haven't made fried green tomatoes, and while I think I ought to, I don't see it happening any time soon.

But, today I wore my new apron while I made Runzas (google it if you need to), apple pie, Dixie House baked squash, and a black bean and rice with colored peppers salad. Busy busy in the kitchen! I'm taking off the apron now and am going to go pray with a friend.

Your comment is such a blessing and encouragement to me! Thank you for taking the time to leave one.
