a favorite

About 30 years ago, I was singing in a Christmas cantata at our church. Isaiah 40:11 was used as a verse in one of the songs. It has been a favorite text for me ever since. I read it again this week as part of my bible study......

"He will tend His flocks like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs in His arms;
He will carry then in His bosom;
And gently lead those who are with young."

Since we are His sheep and He is our Good Shepherd, that is a picture of how our Heavenly Father cares for us. It is so tender and sweet to think of our relationship in that way.....it always touches my heart. I hope it blesses you today!

  1. Spent some time catching up on your blog. Love this scripture but I really love the Phil. 4:8. As a child I had memorized that never really understanding the importance of what I was quoting and can still quote till this day until a few years ago. Beautiful scripture! Thank you for sharing!

  2. I always thought of this as my labor verse. I would picture myself in the arms of the Lord and Him carrying though each pain. Then when my girls started having babies, (I hadn't told them.) They both told me that was how they got through labor. I thought it was a neat picture, when I run across it in my reading now, I am always reminded me how He delivered me then and He will now. It is a very nice reminder and I can see how you are enjoying your study.

  3. I was very pregnant with Daniel when y'all did this cantata. In fact, I had him the next day. Although I was having back labor during the cantata, I wanted to hear Saige sing with the Children's Choir ("Christmas isn't Christmas till it happens in your heart...).

    I must have practiced a few times with the choir before deciding not to sing in the cantata because I remember singing the "shepherd song" and it touching me so much since I was one of those He was "gently leading with young." I couldn't get through it without crying.

    Both these songs from that canata still bless me as I think back on them and that blessed time in our lives.
