Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

wrong bride!

When my dad died in July, I brought home several boxes and albums of family pictures. I went though them last night. There were a lot of old black and white ones....some of people I never knew. There were also some of my parents when they were young...... before they were married. There were a couple of my mom with a girl named Sarah. Seeing it reminded me of the story my mom told me about my dad and Sarah. They were sweethearts and decided they were going to elope. So, they pretended to just being going on a date and took off to a nearby town to find the justice of the peace. Her dad was suspicious, so after a while, he headed in the same direction. A couple of miles from their destination, the car my dad was driving broke down. They were sitting on the side of the road, when her dad pulled up behind them! You can imagine the conversation that took place between those two men!! :-) Needless to say, that was the "end of the road" (in more ways than one!) for those lovebirds! Sometime shortly after that, my parents began to date and about a year later, they were successful when THEY eloped!
That story reminds me that God is sovereign....His plan will not be thwarted! He had ordained that my parents would marry and be my parents. (I know He had a different path for Sarah, too!) We can make our plans, but His plan will always prevail! So, the next time your plans "break down", keep in mind that God is in control.

"Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." Prov. 19:21

  1. I loved that story! I agree so much with what you said. How often that we insist on our way only to be sadly disappointed if we had just waited. I am always so happy that God is in control and not me. Thanks!

  2. What a cute story that packs a powerful truth! Thank God that He knows what we need better than we do ourselves and is able to direct our circumstances.

  6. Anneliese, No they never had a wedding. Couldn't afford it and parents couldn't afford to help. But they were married 34 years before my mom died...so, I guess it took! :-)

  7. Love this story! It reminds me in some ways of the story of Jonah that we are studying in Sunday School. God had a plan for Jonah and it was going to be carried out in one way or another. Your dad and mother were to be so that you could be. Oh the amazing soverignity of God. Great post!
