About Me

Welcome...I'm delighted that you chose to visit! I started this blog in March 2010 and I am so happy that I did. It has made me more aware of the many ways that God is blessing my life. I have made some special friends who bless, teach, encourage, and entertain me! My desire is to be an encouragement to you. I hope you will tarry for a while and that you will come back to visit often.

my first comment

Thank you Rebecca at Turned Loose for posting my blog's first comment. That was a very thoughtful and encouraging thing to do. I was so happy to see that #1 by comments on not one, but two of my posts. You made my day! And I will definitely try the cookies.
And if anyone is interested, here is the recipe for the Derby Pie..... with the sugar :-)

1 stick margarine (melted)
2 eggs (slightly beaten)
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup flour (plain)
1 regular pie crust

Melt margarine in a medium size mixing bowl. Add eggs, vanilla, AND sugar :-) Mix. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Mix. Add flour and mix well. Pour into crust. Bake at 350˚for 30 mins. Cool on rack for 15 mins before serving so it has time to set. Be sure to serve with something to drink (we like milk or coffee) It is too rich to eat by itself. Enjoy!

  1. Wow! What a shocker to see my name in lights over here at The Sandwich Years. Thanks for the appreciation. I am printing off the Derby Pie recipe right now and intend to make it soon...maybe for Easter Sunday!

  2. The Derby Pie sounds wonderful! I look forward to trying it.

I have enjoyed reading yoour blog and look forward to future posts. I feel like I am doing a double stacker version of the sandwich years: My mom is not physically capable of caring for her mother, so my sister and share the responsibility (but we feel very blesed to have a grandma to look after in adition to helping out parents and in-laws). My dh and I also thought we were done with children when God surprised us with a midlife surprise, so we have one in college, one in high school, and one in diapers. My friends invite me and my son along when they take their grandchildren to the park. :-)
