In my Christian life, I have learned that God often asks me to change. Many times, it is change that I don't want. I am happy (or at least, I think I am) with the status quo. But, because He is long-suffering and merciful He doesn't take no for an answer. So eventually, because I want to please Him and because I know He is always right and because He has "given us everything we need for living a godly life" 2 Pet. 1:3, I trust that He will enable me to obey. He has asked me to change several things this year:
-my diet
-the way I pray for some people
-the things I say "yes" to
-how I spend my time
And He was right! I am seeing and enjoying the benefits and blessings of these changes. I am grateful that He is a loving Father who always wants what is best for us. Sometimes that requires change!
i don't like change either, the one thing i like to change is the house i live in, before i met bob 28 years ago i moved all the time, now we have been in this house 23 years. that is the only change i like, but can't have. a counselor once told me
ReplyDelete"when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change, you will change." i never forgot that. good luck with your changes.
I really like how God has asked you to change and you have. I bet you laughed when you got eight quarters. That is so funny. My least favorite thing was when it would be the end of the month and I worked in a grocery store and at closing time people would pay for groceries in all pennies and nickles. It would take so long to count out when that would happen.
ReplyDeleteThe change story is funny although at the time you probably didn't appreciate it...
ReplyDeleteAmen to little changes God's asks of us and how those changes benefit ourselves and others...
I think God laughs when we tell Him what OUR plans are - He says - oh yeah?
ReplyDeleteThose are all good goals. Just take one thing at a time per day. Remember: goals are meant to be modified at times. have a great time!
ReplyDeleteAmen! I don't do good with change but He does know what is best for me.
ReplyDeleteanother meaningful analogy. You need to write that devotional book, girl!
