It started out as a prank... a silly little joke she played on her husband. But the prank made him late for a very important meeting, which was embarrassing. That made him angry. Because he was angry, he made a bad decision, which led to another, which led to a misunderstanding, which led to........well, you get the picture. A marriage was almost destroyed.
It just reminded me how important it is for me to make good, thoughtful, wise, Christ-like decisions. I've been foolish in the past and it has caused hurt and disappointment. I hope and pray to be stronger and wiser from now on.
All of this brought to mind the words to a song I sang a long time ago. It expresses what it means to have The Mind of Christ (the name of the song) as I make choices and decisions every day. I hope it speaks to your heart as it has to mine.
"To receive when others reject, to treat each one with true respect,
To shield when others throw stones, to be with one who's all alone,
To think and choose to see the very best,
To live like this is nothing less than to possess...
Chorus
The mind of Christ, my highest goal
The Lord's delight, the desire of my soul
The Father's heart will always guide my life
If I will have in me the mind of Christ.
To build up when others tear down, to seek the lost until they're found,
To give grace where it's needed most, rejecting pride when others boast,
To sacrifice my all without regret,
To live like this is nothing less than to possess....
Chorus
The mind of Christ, my highest goal
The Lord's delight, the desire of my soul
The Father's heart will always guide my life
If I will have in me the mind of Christ."

Wow! POwerful reminder to make wise decisions. I loved the lyrics to the song! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat is a little like that poem thing about for the want of a horse shoe nail. It is true, I always tell my kids, marriages don't end all at once, they are killed a tiny bit at a time, so too I think are friendships. We never stray from the Lord in one big jump, it is in tiny little ways we walk away.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good reminder, thanks
I have heard that song - or even heard of it! - but I love the lyrics..and especially the chorus. I will have to google it:) and see if I can hear it somewhere! Thanks for sharing - and have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeletePS - I am somewhat in limbo with my blog...not exactly sure what its future is - but I certainly plan to check in on my blogging friends! Take care...
How important to make Christlike decisions daily!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I'm singing a song I recall from my youth (page 11 of that particular hymnbook)...
'May the mind of Christ my Saviour
live in me from day to day...
By His love and power controlling
all I do and say'.
I was trying to think why that story sounded familiar...and I figured it out!
