I'm not sure what the deal is with us and coffeemakers. We can't seem to get one to last more than about 4 years. The last three have been Mr Coffees. The first one started to leak in just a few weeks. We took it back and the store replaced it. That one lasted abut 2 years.... then it started leaking. We set the brew time the night before and when we got up, there was coffee all over the counter and the floor. Wonderful way to wake up! You think we would have learned our lesson, but, no, not us...we bought another Mr Coffee! Four years later (about two weeks ago), Hubby was getting things ready the night before. He put the filter in, put the coffee in, poured the water in, placed the carafe in it's place, and turned back to the sink. In a few seconds, he heard water dripping. He turned around to see water flowing down the counter and and onto the floor! I didn't know he could move so fast! Towels flying, words (no profanity, mind you! ) of aggravation flying...the mess got cleaned up. When he had time, he opened it up and found a tube loose, so he repaired it. Four days later (last night to be exact), he repeated the above steps....including hearing the dripping, using the towels, and expressing his dissatisfaction!! ha! ha! When I came home from work today, there was a new coffeemaker sitting on the counter (pictured above) and it is NOT a Mr Coffee!! Hopefully, it will just brew coffee and not frustration!! :-)

I am amazed you got one to last 4 years. Ours and they are Mr. Coffees too last about 1 year and yes they do the same thing. I may just do what you did buy another brand. I always thought it was just us because I make so many pots of coffee a day. My kids all drink coffee, so it is on.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you wrote about this, It is a very nice post.
Quite an adventure. After all this, I'd be surprised if I didn't believe coffee makers had a mind of their own.
ReplyDeleteOur Bunn is dripping dripping dripping. On the side, not just into the pot !! Looks like it will be a slow, but sure, death. We bought it used and have had it for over 4 years. I'm ready for a new look!
