I went to see this movie with one of my friends last week. I had seen the trailer on TV and thought it looked like a movie I would enjoy. Well, I was right...it was so funny and sweet! We laughed out loud...literally! Billy Crystal and Bette Midler are perfect in their roles and the three children are great, too.
It's a story of learning from and listening to each other. And about facing change.
I talked to another friend tonight. She is facing many changes in her job. Changes that will make things harder for her. There are going to be some changes at our office as we make the move to electronic records. I know it will affect my job, but I don't know how much or how soon.
Change...it's a part of life. Sometimes it is welcome, sometimes it's not, but it is inevitable. Sunday, while we were in Tenn, I went to church with our son and his family. The message was about God's faithfulness... His "parental guidance"! Because we have a relationship with Him, God enables us to face, even embrace, change. Our confidence that He is holding on to us gives us the peace and strength to carry on.
"So,
friends, take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high.
Keep a
tight grip on what you were taught,
whether in personal conversation
whether in personal conversation
or
by our letter. May Jesus himself and God our Father,
who reached out in
love and surprised you with gifts
of unending help and confidence, put a
fresh heart in you,
invigorate your work, enliven your speech."
II Thess 2:15-17

Knowing this...
I hope I can say, with boldness,
come on change...I'm ready for you!! :-)

ReplyDeleteChange is part of life --and none of us like it much... BUT--we all manage to get through it and come out on top!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
change is sometimes hard, sometimes good and sometimes bad. this sounds like you are ready for it no matter what the changes are. good luck
ReplyDeleteSo true Debbie, As I am in the process of many changes, I feel like I have to focus more and more on God and His word and not the changes that are happening so fast. Thanks for sharing about this today. Thanks for your sweet email. I have sat down to write you back but I am so scatterbrained right now. I thought I would just tell you that, Thanks,
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm so relieved our God is the same yesterday, today and forever and we can count on his faithfulness to us whatever change we face. Electronic records...I've walked along side a couple people who went through that change at their office. One step at a time...
ReplyDeleteEncouraging passage!
Hubby and I went to see that movie over the holidays...and we so enjoyed it as well. I too am so glad to know that God is faithful...and the same yesterday, today and forever!
ReplyDeleteI often find chagne hard... but there is one thing I have found out in these last years.. it keeps coming.. faster and faster. In all of these changes it is so good to know that God does not change . .. his faithfulness continues.
