This little guy, our 5 yr old grandson,
is spending the week with us.
Our church is having VBS in the mornings
and Sports Camp in the afternoon.
So, his days are full and we are
happy to have him around in the evenings.
For the last couple of months, I have been
trying to walk in the evenings after dinner.
Sunday night, he went with me.
There is a circle about a mile from our home
that is popular with walkers and bikers.
When we started to walk, he said,
"Let's 'tend like we are race cars...
I'll be Lightening McQueen and you can be
"Franscisco" and there are a "founsand"
other cars racing, too."
So, off to the races we went!
He would pass me and lead for a while,
then he would make a"pit stop" for oil or gas
or tires. Then, when he tried to pass again,
I would cut him off. Finally, he would
get by me and then, he would cut me off
and not let me pass.
Before I knew it, we had finished our loop.
I told the Hubby...
"that was the "funnest"walk I've ever had!"
My only complaint...
I didn't get to make any pit stops! :-)
Hebrews 12:1 says, "...run with the patience
the race that is set before you."
Sometimes, we need "pit stops"
... time to "refuel"
when our "tanks" are running low
or to "retread" when our"tires"
are worn out from where
"the rubber has met the road"!
Sometimes, all we need is to hear
a word of encouragement or a song that
speaks to a need in our heart.
Sometimes it comes through bible study
or time spent in prayer.
His resources are limitless and
they are always available to us!
2 Peter 1:3 tells us that He has given us
everything we need for life and Godliness
so that we can finish the race...
and finish it strong!
What a good grandma you are? It sounds like so much fun. I don't think I am much fun anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteWith seven of them here, I don't feel like I am being anything but a servant. :)
This is a beautiful post! Grandmas are so nice!
ReplyDeleteBeth
You are so right, they will keep us hopping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement...I needed this pit stop!
ReplyDeleteSo true...that sometimes a little encouragement is all we need. Enjoy your grandson!
ReplyDeleteYou did it with Google and so did I! Yeah.
ReplyDeleteGosh your grandson is too cute and I love the story of the two of you.
We went shopping today for school clothes for my grandson. He is going to a Christian School this August and needed uniforms.
Believe me at the end of it - we needed a pit stop - didn't take one - and we all got a little grumpy!

Ps can i suggest one more thing - you have word verification on - it is extremely hard to read - there are a lot of bloggers out there that refuse to even leave a comment. You may want to take it off and put for the comments to be sent to you! Just trying to help.
He's a cutie. Looking forward to all of us being together soon.
ReplyDeleteI like the rest of that passage: "Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross..." I think the pit stops you mentioned are when we have to stop and think about the joy set before us- Jesus.
