a quilt for "little h"

On my March visit to Tenn, My daughter-in-law and I went

shopping for fabric for the baby boy's quilt.

We were looking for something to go with the adventure, travel

theme of his room.

We found a vintage print with ships, planes, trains, 

luggage, ticket stubs...perfect.

Then, we had fun picking coordinating fabrics.

I finished it in time to give it to her at the shower Sunday.

Here it is...

It looks pretty hanging on his bed!

The look on her face when she opened the package made me happy!

 

So glad she liked it...hope "Little H" likes it, too! :-)

family, friends, gifts and love!

The shower on Sunday was lovely!

The ladies who hosted it did a great job of interpreting

the "adventure, travel" theme of the baby boy's nursery!

Notice the tiny crocheted aviator cap on the balloon picture

and the tiny train and track in the center of the table.

A hot air balloon and snacks that would be served on an airplane flight.

The first set of luggage I had included a red train case
 much like this one! Cute chip "bowl"!

The banner that spelled his name and hung from the mantle...

letters cut from maps.

So glad my daughter was able to make the trip with me.

My daughter-in-law's mom is on the left. 

When our "children" married 2 years ago, she not only
 gained a son, she also gained 2 granddaughters!

She is a sweet and loving Granna to them and I am so grateful for that!

It was such a sweet party and I, for one, was overwhelmed

by the love and generosity lavished on this

sweet mama and her baby boy!

I think they have most everything they need.

Now, we just have to wait for the boy's arrival

in a few weeks!!

1. April showers bring May flowers, or so the saying goes. 

When did you last 'shower' attention on someone
 or have attention  "showered' on you?

 Did you love it, or did all that attention make you squirm?

Hmmm.....I would say the tea party I hosted fo
r my daughter-in-law a couple of weeks ago.
I wanted her to feel "showered" with love...

and I think she did!

2. Share a favorite 'spring break' memory. Not talking about just the

 'college spring break' thing, but any favorite spring break memory
 you'd like to share. Keep it family friendly please!

One year, when our daughter was in college, she, Hubby and
I went to Panama City, FL.

The main thing we wanted was to go to the beach and
 stay on the beach.

So, I went on line found an affordable condo and booked it. 

It had been many years since I had been to P.C.
 and didn't even think about it being "the" spring break destination
 for high school and college kids.

But, God was merciful to me in my ignorance and our condo
 was on the opposite end of the beach from the rowdy kids!

Daughter and Hubby went hand gliding that week...
a first for both of them.

And a funny thing that happened...daughter and I both
 put vaseline on our lips while on the beach thinking we were
 protecting them. Instead, it fried them!

We both woke up the second morning with swollen lips!

 It gave a new definition to "a fat lip"! 

It was still a fun week with perfect weather!

3. It's National Pecan Month...are you a fan? If so, what's your
 favorite dish that calls for pecans?

Love pecans...by themselves, in salads, pies, cookies and
 meat or fish entrees that are pecan crusted.
I use them most often in the Derby Pie I make.

 It is a family favorite!

4.  'Put all your eggs in one basket', 'egg on your face', 'rotten egg',
 'walk on eggshells', or 'a good egg'...which egg-spression
 could most recently be applied to your own life?

Most of the people in my life are "good eggs".
They are responsible and hard working.
They are thoughtful, generous and kind. 

I am grateful for the positive influence they have in my life!

5.  In my experience___________________________________.

I have found that it is important to be a person who is reliable.
 People like to know that you are trustworthy,
 that you do what you say you will do and that you will do it well.

6. What's a  favorite song with the word rain in its title or lyrics?

7. What does the word hope mean to you?

Because I trust that God is sovereign, hope means that my future

is secure. Regardless of what is happening today, I know that He
 loves me and that "all things are working for my good."

Glad baseball season is here! I enjoy watching our Braves 

and they are off to a pretty good start...4 and 2!

Hope it is a great season for them...and us! :-)

hubby's been at it again...

He and our neighbor were "stepping deep" in bass

in Deepstep, Georgia last Tuesday!

Thr Bradford Pear trees around town are still beautiful!

The have held on to their blooms in spite of some strong

winds and rain we had last week.

A reminder to me to hold on even when the rain and winds of

disappointment or adversity blow against me or my family.

1. Since these questions are posting on the first day of April it seems only
 right to ask-when was the last time you did something foolish?
If you can't answer that one, try this one-when was the last time someone fooled you?

Well, I'm not free to give details, but recently someone lied to me. It was
disappointing and hurtful. Not only did they fool me, but I felt foolish
that I believed them.


2. What's the last biography or non-fiction book you've read? Was it any good?

"The Story" It's the bible in story form highlighting the theme of redemption that runs
from Genesis to Revelation. It is very good!




3. Garlic-friend or foe? What's your favorite dish made with garlic?

Friend...in moderation. I use garlic powder more than fresh garlic. But I do have a
garlic shrimp pasta dish that is great.

4. Several Spring flower festivals happen in the US during the month of April.
Of those listed, which would you most like to see in person...The Skagit Tulip Festival
 in Skagit Washington, The Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville Tennessee,
The North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington North Carolina or the
 Daffodil Festival Weekend on Nantucket Island, Massachussets?

The tulip festival I think. Would love to visit the state of Washington and see
fields of tulips!
 
5. How do you choose which blogs to read?  What is something that will make
you stop and read every time? Something that makes you say, 'eh, think I'll skip
this one and move on to the next'?

Being a Christian, I enjoy meeting new sisters in Christ so those blogs usually
catch my attention. As much as I appreciate design or craft blogs when I need
them for a project, I don't usually read them on a regular basis.

6. April is National Mathematics Education Month so tell us, when did you last use math?

Yesterday, working on a quilt I am making. I was adding lengths of strips together
to determine how much fabric I needed for the binding.

7. In honor of the A-Z challenge kicking off on April 1...choose one word
beginning with the letter A to describe your yesterday.

Able. Yesterday, I was able to get out of bed, go to work, shop where I wanted to,
eat without assistance, sew with my hands, sleep in my own bed. There are many
who can't or don't have the freedom to do those things. So, I am grateful to be "able".

I saw this on the sign of a local business today...
"When you finish changing, you're finished."
There's a lot of truth there....may have to consider a post about that! :-)
