Our fair city became the new home to one of these this past Friday. I haven't been brave enough to visit there yet! I understand it was a madhouse over the weekend. The nearest one to us is in Macon about 20 miles away, so it is nice to have our own.
One of the nicest things about it is its location. It is the center store in an already existing strip mall on our main road. About two years ago, the Kroger store that had anchored the stores moved down the road leaving a big empty building. I hate it when that happens. It's sad and ugly and it looks like the area is going downhill.
There was talk that Academy was coming, but after so much time, I was beginning to doubt it. Then, the owners of the mall resurfaced the parking lot. Aha! I knew something was about to happen. Shortly after that, the sign appeared...COMING SOON... Academy Sports and Outdoors! Our town is a sports town, so I know it will do well.
Now, if the city could just get someone interested in that empty building on Houston Rd and the one on Green Street and the one... :-)
Okay I am not sure what this is - I don't think we have seen one. sandie

ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, Thank you for stopping over. I have my main blog Just Breathe and you must have seen my For Your Tears. God placed it on my heart and the small gift just tells them that I care. You have a lovely family. My children are 33 and 31, my daughter being married for 10 years now but no plans for children at this time. My sister has had grandchildren for 17 years now. But I'm okay, I trust in God's plan for me. So very nice to meet you. Debby
