a fish story

Typically, when we cook the fish Hubby catches, we fry them.
Bream, Perch, Bass...I haven't found them to be that tasty
baked or grilled.
Possibly because I just didn't know what I was doing!
Anyway, this past week, when I took a bag of bass
from the freezer, Hubby asked if we might try baking them.
So, I "googled" baked fish and found this recipe.
I had all the ingredients, so I decided to give it a try.
And...we liked it! It made a nice crust on the fish
and it was very tasty!

The recipe called for Tilapia, but I'm sure it would
 be good on any fish.
So, if you are interested, here you go...

Baked Parmesan Fish

1 lb fish filets
2 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 cup seafood breading mix
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
1 egg, beaten
salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 425.
Put melted butter in 13x9 baking dish.
Mix breading mix, cheese and seasoning.
Sprinkle each piece of fish with salt and pepper,
brush with egg, and coat with mixture on both sides.
Place in baking dish and bake for 20 minutes.

It was easy, healthier and...my house didn't smell like fish
like it does when I fry them!
It was a win, win, win!! :-)

  1. It sounds easy enough! Ed would probably like this, but I'm not much of a fish eater.

  2. When I saw all those fish he caught, I wondered if you really like eating them. This is a great recipe! I'm going to try it next time I cook white fish, because I just haven't been happy with the way I've been doing it!

  3. the no left over smell grabbed me right away... daddy's favorite meal was a mess of bream the size of his hand with grits and hush puppies..the fish looks great from here.

  4. I must save that recipe. DH loves fried fish but with his high cholesterol, he needs a healthier alternative ... and I just found it! Thanks for sharing that.
